Club Communications Update

The Internet has changed the way we communicate. Web-sites, Blogs, and E-Mail are terrific communication tools we can use to communicate club activities to our members and friends. Without question, most club members prefer to receive communication about our club via E-Mail.
In the E-Mail world - the technology is rapidly changing. Last Friday night, I sent a brief E-Mail to all our members reminding them of Saturday's monthly meeting. Within seconds, I received five messages back as undeliverable, and AOL rejected every E-Mail I sent to AOL users. They were flagged as spam because they came in rapid succession from the same IP address.
As many of you know, it is nearly impossible to send a simple E-Mail message to more than about five of your friends. Imagine the challenge of trying to send an E-Mail message to a hundred club members.
Thanks to the spammers, I am now convinced we need to use an E-Mail list service for our club. Fortunately,
goDaddy.com, our ISP, has a good solution for us that is reasonably priced. I signed up for their E-Mail listing service that allows me to send 500 E-Mails a month. If we need more as we grow, it is easy to upgrade.
Our E-Mail list service will be online within a week or so. Existing members do not need to do a thing. New
members will see an easy sign-up form on our web site and they will have to return a confirmation E-Mail to complete their membership.
Once our E-Mail service is set up, it will be much easier to keep all members up to date on club activities.
Thanks for your patience as we work through this change.
